ParentMail emails

Another ParentMail letter. Sense finds the date inside it.

Trip letters, newsletters, non-uniform days, parents' evening bookings, clubs. Forward the ParentMail emails to Sense and the dates, including the ones inside the attached letter, go straight onto your family calendar.

The volume

Why ParentMail fills your inbox.

ParentMail replaced the book-bag letter, so everything that used to come home on paper now comes as an email. Usually with the real details in an attached PDF.

Every letter is an email

Trips, clubs, vaccinations, photos, uniform reminders. Each one used to be a sheet of paper, now each is a message.

The date is in the attachment

The email says "please see attached letter". The date, the cost and the reply-by are in the PDF.

Per child, per year group

Two children in two year groups means both sets of letters, plus the whole-school ones.

Payments and forms on top

Dinner money, trip payments and consent forms each send their own reminders.

What parents try

The usual fixes trade one problem for another.

Use the app instead

The app gathers the messages in one place, but you still have to open every letter to find the date.

Mute the notifications

Quieter, until the trip slip that was due yesterday.

Stick it on the fridge

Print the letter, pin it up, and hope everyone looks. The fridge does not send reminders.

How it works

You forward it. Sense keeps the dates.

Step 01

Forward the email

Verify your email address in Sense once, then forward ParentMail emails to share@getsense.ai. Digests and attachments included.

Step 02

Sense reads every one

It pulls out the dates, times, what to bring, and anything to sign or pay. Emails with nothing to schedule are left alone.

Step 03

It is on the calendar

Events land on your family calendar, with reminders for deadlines, so everyone sees the same plan.

Or let all of it flow in on its own

Premium lets you set up a Gmail or Outlook filter that sends every one of these emails to your personal Sense address the moment it arrives. Sense reads each one, adds what has a date, and ignores the rest. How to set up auto-forwarding.

What it costs

The free plan covers 10 emails a month for the whole family, which is enough to forward the ones that matter. A busy school on auto-forward will need Premium, which is unlimited. See pricing.

A week of ParentMail

What lands on the calendar, and what does not.

On the family calendar

  • Science Museum trip - Wed 21 Oct
  • Non-uniform day - Fri 16 Oct
  • Book parents' evening - by Fri 23 Oct

Left in the inbox

  • Year 3 Newsletter - Autumn Term
  • Lunch menu for next half term
  • Clubs: places available
  • Headteacher's update
  • Payment reminder: school dinners

Forwarding a ParentMail email

Forward the email with its attachment. Sense reads the attached PDF or image letter as well as the email itself, so the trip date, the cost and the reply-by date are all picked up. You do not need to open the letter first.

FAQ

Common questions.

How do I get school letters from ParentMail onto my calendar?

Forward the ParentMail email, with its attachment, to Sense. Sense reads the letter and adds each date to your family calendar, with a reminder for anything you need to reply to or pay.

Does Sense read the PDF letter attached to the email?

Yes. Sense reads PDF and image attachments, which is where most ParentMail letters keep the details.

Will it add the deadline for the reply slip or payment?

Yes. A reply-by or pay-by date becomes a reminder, separate from the trip itself.

Does it work with Google or Outlook calendars?

Sense has its own family calendar and connects to Google Calendar. You can also subscribe to it from Outlook or Apple Calendar.
