Sense Terms & Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Sense is developed and operated by MyShoperoo and its affiliates ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information when you use the Sense mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Services").
By using Sense, you consent to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these practices, please do not use our Services.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information: name, email address, and authentication details.
- Family information: names of family members, relationships, and basic profile information.
- Events, reminders, lists, chores, and recipes: calendar events, reminders, notes, lists, chore assignments, meal plans, and saved recipes.
- Email content: emails you choose to forward or share with Sense for event and reminder extraction, including attachments such as flyers, invitations, schedules, and PDFs.
- Chat messages and attachments: text you send to the Sense AI assistant, along with any images or documents you attach for processing (for example, a photo of a school flyer or a PDF schedule).
- Documents: files you upload to the Document Hub or attach for AI classification and extraction.
- Photos: photos you save to the screensaver or attach to family content.
- Preferences: app settings, notification preferences, and customization options.
Information we collect automatically
- Device information: device type, operating system, app version, and device identifiers.
- Usage data: how you interact with the app, features used, and time spent.
- Performance data: crash reports and app performance metrics.
- Location data: general location (if permitted) to enhance event suggestions and reminders.
AI processing
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide core functionality: process emails, create events and reminders, manage lists and chores, and organize family schedules.
- AI assistant: answer your questions in chat, analyze attached images and documents, execute actions you request, and stream responses back to you.
- AI suggestions: generate recipes, meal ideas, lunchbox ideas, bedtime stories, homework help, parenting tips, activity ideas, and conversation starters when you ask for them.
- AI-generated imagery: create custom illustrations for chores you add and food images for recipes you save.
- Document classification: read and categorize documents you upload to help you find them later.
- Intelligent assignment: use family context to automatically assign events and reminders to the right family member.
- Smart notifications: send timely reminders and family updates.
- Improve our service: diagnose and fix bugs, evaluate AI quality on aggregated or anonymized data, and develop new features.
- Account management: authenticate users, provide support, and manage subscriptions.
- Communication: send important updates, tips, and promotional content (with your consent).
4. Information sharing
Within your family
Information is shared among family members you've connected in Sense, including events, reminders, and family member assignments.
Service providers
We share information with trusted service providers who help us operate Sense:
- Cloud infrastructure: secure data storage and processing (Firebase, Google Cloud).
- AI providers: Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI power our chat assistant, email and document understanding, content suggestions (recipes, stories, homework help, etc.), and AI-generated images for chores and recipes. They process your content on our behalf and do not use it to train their models.
- Analytics: aggregated usage analytics to improve the app.
- Payment processing: subscription and payment management.
Legal requirements
We may disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights, prevent fraud, or ensure user safety.
5. Data security
We implement industry-standard security measures:
- Encryption: all data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Access controls: strict access controls and authentication.
- Regular audits: security reviews and vulnerability assessments.
- Secure infrastructure: enterprise-grade cloud security (Google Cloud Platform).
6. Your privacy rights
Access and control
- View data: access your information through the app settings.
- Update information: modify family details, preferences, and account information.
- Delete data: remove specific events, reminders, or family members.
- Account deletion: delete your entire account and associated data.
Communication preferences
- Control notification types and frequency.
- Opt out of promotional communications.
- Manage email digest preferences.
7. Data retention
We retain your information:
- Active accounts: as long as your account is active.
- Deleted accounts: 30 days after account deletion (for recovery purposes).
- Legal requirements: longer if required by law.
- Aggregated data: anonymized usage data may be retained indefinitely.
8. Children's privacy
Sense is designed for family use but is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Family information about children is only collected and managed by parent/guardian accounts.
9. International data transfers
Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international data transfers.
10. Third-party integrations
Sense may integrate with:
- Email providers: Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail (with your permission).
- Calendar services: Apple Calendar, Google Calendar.
- Health apps: Apple HealthKit (for wellness-related reminders).
These integrations are governed by their respective privacy policies.
11. Terms of service
Acceptable use
You agree to use Sense only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You will not:
- Use the service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts.
- Upload or share malicious content, spam, or harmful materials.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code.
- Use automated tools to access the service without permission.
Service availability
We strive to maintain high service availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. Sense is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
Limitation of liability
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold MyShoperoo harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of Sense, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.
Subscription and payment terms
- Billing: subscriptions are billed in advance through your App Store account.
- Auto-renewal: subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Refunds: refund requests are handled according to App Store policies.
- Price changes: we may change subscription prices with 30 days notice.
- Free tier: free accounts are subject to usage limits, including limits on AI-powered actions. We reserve the right to modify, reduce, or remove free tier features and usage limits at any time without prior notice.
Intellectual property
Sense and all related content, features, and functionality are owned by MyShoperoo and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without explicit permission.
User content
You retain ownership of content you provide to Sense (emails, family information, events). By using Sense, you grant us a limited license to process this content to provide our services. You represent that you have the right to share all content you provide, including any emails or attachments you forward from third parties, and that doing so does not violate any law or third-party rights.
Termination
Either party may terminate your account at any time. Upon termination, your right to use Sense ceases immediately, and we may delete your data according to our retention policy. Provisions regarding liability, indemnification, and intellectual property survive termination.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, United States. Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association rather than in court, except for injunctive relief or intellectual property disputes. You and MyShoperoo agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative action. Class arbitrations and class actions are not permitted.
Force majeure
We are not liable for any failure to perform due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, government actions, network failures, or other unforeseeable events.
AI and machine learning disclaimers
Sense uses AI to extract events from emails and documents, answer questions in chat, generate suggestions (recipes, meal ideas, bedtime stories, homework help, parenting tips, activity ideas), and create illustrations for chores and recipes. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or unexpected. Review all AI-generated events, reminders, assignments, and content before relying on them. Suggestions like parenting tips, homework help, and bedtime stories are for general inspiration and are not professional, medical, educational, or legal advice. Generated images are decorative and may not match exactly what you asked for.
Email processing limitations
Email analysis is performed on content you explicitly share with Sense. We cannot guarantee perfect extraction or interpretation of all email content. Users should review all processed events and reminders for accuracy.
Third-party integrations
Sense integrates with third-party services (email providers, calendar apps, etc.). We are not responsible for the performance, availability, or data practices of these third-party services. Integration issues may affect Sense functionality.
Age requirements
Sense is intended for users 13 years and older. Users between 13-17 must have parental consent to use the service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Beta features and updates
Sense may include beta features or experimental functionality. These features are provided as-is and may be modified or removed without notice. Regular app updates may change functionality or require acceptance of updated terms.
App store terms
If you downloaded Sense from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and MyShoperoo, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for Sense or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Sense, and is not responsible for any product warranties, claims of non-conformance, product liability, or third-party intellectual property claims related to Sense. You must use Sense in compliance with the Apple App Store Terms of Service. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Equivalent terms apply if you downloaded Sense from Google Play or another app store.
Copyright complaints (DMCA)
If you believe content on Sense infringes your copyright, send a notice to hello@getsense.ai with: a description of the work, the location of the allegedly infringing content, your contact information, a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized, a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf, and your physical or electronic signature. We will respond to valid notices and may remove content or terminate repeat infringers.
General
These Terms, together with any policies referenced in them, are the entire agreement between you and MyShoperoo regarding Sense and supersede any prior agreements. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver. You may not assign or transfer these Terms; we may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Terms & Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We'll notify you of significant changes through the app or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
