Document to calendar

Drop a document into Sense chat - PDF, Word, plain text, or CSV. The AI reads every date inside and adds the events to your family calendar. Useful for the documents that come from school, work, and the league.

All input methods

How it works

  1. Open chat, tap attach

Tap the paperclip icon in Sense chat, choose Document. Browse Files or any cloud storage.

  2. Sense reads the file

Tables, paragraphs, scanned pages - whatever's inside. Every date and event gets pulled.

  3. Confirm what's worth saving

Sense shows the extracted events. Skip rows you don't want, edit anything that needs fixing, save the rest.

Formats Sense reads

  • PDF

Sports schedules, conference agendas, camp packets, school year calendars. The most common doc type. More on PDF specifically.

  • Word (.docx)

Teacher's Word document of class events. Meeting notes from the PTA. Travel itinerary your assistant sent.

  • Plain text (.txt)

Exported notes, simple agendas, copied text from somewhere else. Bare-bones but reliable.

  • CSV (.csv)

Spreadsheet exports from any tool. The date column tells Sense which row is when.

  • Excel (.xlsx)

Not direct - open in Excel or Sheets, export as CSV, then upload. Sense reads the CSV.

  • 10MB limit per upload

Bigger files? Forward an email with the file attached to share@getsense.ai - the email path skips the size limit.

The documents that earn their keep

  • Sports season schedules

Soccer, swim, hockey. Sometimes PDFs, sometimes a CSV exported from TeamSnap.

  • School year calendars

The district's full PDF or Word version. Half days, breaks, conferences - all extracted.

  • Camp packets

The 20-page summer-camp PDF with daily themes, drop-off times, field-trip dates.

  • Work shift schedules

A coworker's exported CSV of shifts, an HR PDF, a hospital roster. Save as CSV if needed.

  • Travel itineraries

The travel agent's Word doc. Flights, check-ins, dinner reservations - all become events.

  • Music and recital programs

Spring concert, tech week, dress rehearsal. Often distributed as a PDF or Word doc.

Frequently asked

  • Which document formats does Sense accept?

PDF, Word (.docx), plain text (.txt), and CSV (.csv). Other formats - like .xlsx, .pages, or .rtf - aren't supported directly. Save as CSV or PDF first.

  • How big can the document be?

Up to 10MB when uploading through chat. For larger files, forward an email with the document attached to share@getsense.ai - email attachments are processed without the size limit.

  • Does it read scanned PDFs?

Yes. Sense reads both text-based PDFs and scanned-image PDFs. Clean text PDFs extract most reliably, but a coach's scanned handwritten schedule will work too.

  • What about Excel (.xlsx) files?

Sense doesn't accept .xlsx files directly. Open the spreadsheet, save or export as CSV, then upload the CSV. Sense reads CSVs with date columns cleanly.
