Calendar Sync
One-way sync with Google Calendar
One-way sync brings a Google calendar into Sense with a private link instead of a Google sign-in. Its events show up in Sense and stay updated, but they're read-only in Sense - you change them in Google. Most families are better served by two-way sync, which also lets you edit from Sense. One-way is handy for a calendar you don't own or when you'd rather not connect your Google account.
1. Copy the calendar's secret address
- Open calendar.google.com on a computer (the link isn't available in the Google Calendar phone app).
- Next to the calendar under My calendars, click the three dots, then Settings and sharing.
- Scroll to Integrate calendar and copy the Secret address in iCal format.
Work or school account? On a Google Workspace account, an admin setting can hide the secret address - you'll see only Public address in iCal format, which works only if the calendar is public. If you run the Workspace, turn on external sharing in the Admin console under Apps → Google Workspace → Calendar → Sharing settings, then reload the page. Or skip the link and use two-way sync.
2. Add it to Sense
- In Sense, open Settings → Connected Calendars and tap Connect a calendar.
- Choose Google Calendar.
- Paste the link and tap Check link.
- Give it a name and color, and optionally assign it to a family member so its events wear their color.
- Tap Connect calendar.
Sense checks the calendar about once an hour, so a brand-new Google event can take a little while to appear.
Keep the secret address private - anyone with it can see that calendar's events. If it leaks, use Reset next to it in Google and paste the new one into Sense.
Bringing outside calendars into Sense is part of Premium.
