Lock Sense with Face ID

App Lock keeps Sense closed until you unlock it with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode - useful when your phone gets passed around or you keep family documents in Sense.

Turn it on

  1. Open Settings → App Lock.
  2. Turn on Require Face ID (or Touch ID or passcode, depending on your device). On Android it's Require screen lock, which uses your fingerprint, face, or screen lock.
  3. Under Lock After, choose how long Sense can sit in the background before it locks: Immediately, or after 1, 5, or 15 minutes. On Android the shortest is 10 seconds.

If Face ID doesn't recognize you, you can use your device passcode instead.

Good to know

  • App Lock is per device. Turn it on on each phone or tablet where you want it.
  • Your device needs a passcode or screen lock set up first.
  • Signing out turns App Lock off on that device. It isn't used on Sense Hub, which is meant to stay on display.

App Lock or PIN?

They do different jobs. App Lock protects your own phone from anyone else who picks it up. Your PIN protects grown-up features on a device kids use. Face ID never stands in for your PIN: on a shared tablet, Face ID only proves who owns the tablet, not that a parent is the one tapping.
