Pause a chore for a break
School's out, someone's sick, or the family is away. Pausing a repeating chore hides it on those days without deleting it or losing its history, then brings it back on the day you choose.
On the web
- On the Chores page, click the chore to open it, then click Pause.
- Pick Today only, Rest of this week, Next week, or Until I resume - or set Off from and Back on to any dates, like a term break next month.
- Sense shows each day that will be skipped and the day it comes back. Click Pause chore (or Schedule break for one that starts later).
Open the pause again any time to see every scheduled break, end one early with Resume now, or remove one that hasn't started.
In the phone app
- On the Chores tab, tap the chore to open it.
- Tap the pause button next to Mark as done.
- Choose when it comes back: Tomorrow, Next Monday, In a week, Pick a date, or Pause indefinitely.
To plan a break ahead in the app, pause the chore, tap the button again, and set Paused from to the first day of the break and Resumes on to the day it comes back. Until the break starts the chore looks as usual - the pause kicks in on its own.
Pausing a whole routine
On the web, open any chore in the routine, click Pause, and turn on Pause the whole routine. If the routine is shared, choose who's on break - handy when every kid is off for the same school holiday. Every chore in it pauses for the same dates, and removing the break later removes it from all of them. In the phone app, pause each chore in the routine.
On paused days the routine's card still appears, just with nothing to check off. A routine set to weekdays already skips weekends on its own.
